Junior Engineers Online is an amazing platform designed specifically to support educators in the delivery of the Digital Technologies curriculum in the classroom. We answer some of our schools' most frequently asked questions below, but if you need more information about the platform, please don't hesitate to get in touch
Our Junior Engineers Online self-paced learning platform provides engaging pre-recorded video tutorials, grouped into pre-built learning pathways for students at different levels of coding experience. Students learn coding in step-by-step tutorials, with AI assistance and delivered by Junior Engineers Instructors. Leaving you to focus on helping your students in real-time, without having to worry about the technicalities of the code the students are writing
Junior Engineers Online is sold via seat licenses for individual classes, year level or whole school. We offer a variety of pricing options, and you can also bundle these license packages with incursion programs designed to kick start your student's online learning.
The best way to get started is to request a demonstration from our partnerships managers. We also offer free trials for you to try out the platform and get a feel for how you'll be able to use the reporting and student management functionality in your school.
All that's needed for students to get started using Junior Engineers Online is wifi and a device with an internet browser. We have optimised Junior Engineers Online to run on most common browsers, however our recommendation is to use the latest version of Google Chrome or Apple Safari for the best experience. Schools will need to whitelist the URL of the platform (https://online.juniorengineers.com.au/) to ensure it's accessible using school networks.
Knowing that students have all kinds of devices, it will work perfectly on laptops and tablets alike. The platform has been designed as an "all-in-one" integrated environment. This means that students will not need to log in to multiple different websites or coding platforms to learn how to code in the platform for most of the coding languages.
We're confident that teachers and students alike will love using the platform to learn essential digital technologies skills, and to streamline lesson planning, delivery of digital technologies curriculum in the classroom, and provide significant benefit and time savings for student progress reporting and understanding proficiency levels.
The free trial is designed to provide a taster of how the platform will revolutionise the delivery of the digital technologies curriculum in your classrooms. We'll provide access to your students and teachers for free, and support this with onboarding and customer support from our Customer Success team.
If you enjoy the courses and experience, we'll issue an invoice at the end of the free trial period for your agreed license length. It's simple!
Course content depends on the topic. Our videos range from 5 minutes to 30 minutes in length. As a self-paced course, the video tutorials are designed to allow students to pause once a concept is explained, code, design and test their work.
As a rule of thumb, students will take 3-4 times the total length of the video to complete the activities contained in each project. Each project in the platform includes an estimate of the time required to complete the activity in the Project Overview page.
The AI coding tutor is designed to provide in-platform coaching to students as they work through each individual activity. We've built in guardrails into the AI technology, so that search is prompted for students, reducing the need for free text questions. The kinds of prompts that are included are: "Check my code for completion"; "I'm stuck, can you help me"; "I don't understand the logic" and so on. The AI has been designed to provide prompts to keep students on track towards the final AI
There is a free text option for students to ask questions about the activity - but don't worry, any questions that are not relevant to the coding lesson in question will be routed back to the lesson at hand, rather than opening up a digital pandora's box.
Expletives and bad language are automatically deleted from conversations and the underlying concept of the AI tutor is to coach students in how AI can enhance their learning outcomes, and power their knowledge and skill development.
Each lesson contains an in-built quiz to test the student's knowledge and capabilities. Right now, Junior Engineers Online provides standardised quizzes for each course, however, we're working on additional functionality that will allow teachers to customise the quizzes issued to their classes.
We are also designing adaptive quizzes as part of a new AI-release, which will adapt the quizzes to a student's proficiency or deficiency in a coding topic, providing a more customised learning experience for every student, regardless of their coding aptitude. Teachers will be able to control which version of the quiz is issued to students - Junior Engineers Online will be the ultimate teaching tool!
